Normal mapping rubble – First attempt

So after the script generated the chaos that was 701 meshes which formed the pile of rubble, Mudbox helped me generate a displacement/height map. This height map was then projected onto a slightly smoothed off plane from which a normal map could then be generated. After a bit of painting, a diffuse map was then created. Below, is the result:

Its not as effective as I had hoped: The topology of the plane was A) not dense enough and B) not allowing for sudden and seemingly random changes in direction. Next, I think it might be time to look into retopologising. Stay posted.
